WORLD, Sept. 05 (YPA)- The Sudanese army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan intended to handover a total of 230 members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
In a press statement issued on Monday, Sudan’s military said that it had contacted the ICRC about the extradition of members of the rebel militia.
“Following international humanitarian law and the customs of war, the Sudanese Armed Forces have contacted representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the country to hand over 30 rebel militia members (from minors) who were captured by the armed forces during the battles that have taken place since the outbreak of the rebellion,” the statement read.
The statement clarified that the RSF’s personnel in “Omdurman will be handed over as soon as the response is received from the ICRC’s representatives who have been addressed in this regard.”
“Another group of 200 rebels will also be handed over upon completion of the necessary arrangements with representatives of ICRC,” the statement said.
