Egypt apprehends Israeli with bullets in his possession at Taba crossing

CAIRO, Aug. 27 (YPA) – The Egyptian authorities arrested an Israeli man, 24, with live bullets at the Taba crossing, separating Egypt from the occupied territories, Hebrew media said on Sunday.

The Hebrew Channel “12” reported that the young man, named Daniel Haim, claimed after his arrest that he “works as a security guard, and that the bullets remained by mistake in his bag.”

The channel explained that the bullets were not found in the bag of the Israeli youth on the Israeli side but on the Egyptian side, and there he was arrested.

The defendant’s lawyer said, “Haim went out to Sinai for a vacation, knowing that the gunshots that were seized were related to his work as a security guard, and unfortunately the Israeli side does not check anything.”

This comes as the Israeli Foreign Ministry reported that the Egyptian authorities extended the arrest of the young man for 15 days.
