STC pushes tribal groups to confront Saudi Arabia in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 26 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Saturday pushed tribal groups to confront Saudi moves in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

The STC organized a massive consultative meeting for the tribes of Yafea Hadramout loyal to it to discuss what it called “challenges and conspiracies targeting Hadramout and seeking to drag it into projects far from its southern strategic depth.”

The head of the STC in Hadramout, Saeed Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, confirmed that the meeting aimed to study and consult to respond to developments in the situation in Hadramout and the south in general with a unified position in the face of conspiracies against the province.

Al-Muhammadi called for confronting what he called “the mummies” of the defunct regime and efforts to recycle them in the joints of the local authority, and to bring in forces under the pretext of protecting the presidential palace. He described these moves as “utopian projects” seeking to create conditions that would enable them to regain control of Hadramout, referring to the “7/7” gang affiliated with the former president Ali Abudllah Saleh “Afash”.

This comes after Saudi Arabia announced, on June 20, from its capital, Riyadh, the establishment of the so-called “Hadramout Council” from the tribes of the Hadramout valley and desert districts.
