SHABWA, Aug. 17 (YPA) – Armed confrontations erupted on Thursday between armed groups and tribal gunmen in Shabwa province, east of Yemen.
Local sources in the province reported that the clashes broke out between the so-called Emirati-backed “Shabwa Defense” factions, and tribal gunmen in Nisab district, west of the city of Ataq.
The sources said that the clashes came after an attempt by “Shabwa Defense” factions to impose new taxes on farmers in the district.
The oil-rich province is witnessing security chaos in light of the growing conflicts between the tribes and armed factions backed by the coalition.
