Pro-coalition authorities ban protests in Taiz

TAIZ, Aug 17 (YPA) – Local authorities of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Taiz, issued on Wednesday a directive banning all forms of popular demonstrations and vigils in the province.

The directive called on all unions and syndicates not to organize any demonstration or vigil without prior permission from local authorities.

This comes two days after mass rally held by the tribes of Jabal Habashi residents of the city of Taiz in front of the headquarters of the local authority, demanding immediate arrest of the killer of the child Ghaleb Al-Hatami by one of the recruits in the “Taiz military axis” affiliated with the coalition

Human rights activists described this decision as a start to silence citizens, who are demanding their legitimate rights through peaceful demonstrations.

They stressed that the decision proves the extent of confusion reached by the local and security authorities in the province as a result of the crimes committed by influential and recruits against the people of the province, including women, children, and even military and security leaders in the ranks of the coalition within the bloody conflict among the rival coalition factions.
