WORLD, July 30 (YPA) – At least six people have died after a small plane crashed into the mountains west of the southwestern Canadian city of Calgary, local authorities said.
According to Police, the plane with a pilot and five passengers aboard took off from Springbank Airport, just west of the city, on Friday night and was headed for Salmon Arm, B.C.
“After leaving, relatives lost contact with the passengers of the plane.”
Authorities sent a squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force based in Winnipeg to search for the plane.
The plane was found in the mountains about 100 kilometers west of Calgary, in a place that can only be reached by helicopter, police said.
Police confirmed that “all six passengers on the plane died”. An investigation had been opened to determine the cause of the accident.
