People burn copies of Quran in front of Iraqi embassy in Danish capital

COPENHAGEN, July 24 (YPA) – Two people in Denmark burned a copy of the Quran on Monday in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen, threatening a further deterioration in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Reuters reported that the protesters are from a group calling itself “the Danish Patriots”, which organized a similar demonstration last week and broadcast the events live on Facebook.

The demonstrators trampled on the Quran and set it on fire after placing it in a tin tray next to the Iraqi flag, which was also placed on the ground, according to Reuters.

On Saturday, thousands of Iraqis demonstrated in Baghdad to protest the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark in a rally called for by Iraqi parties.
