TAIZ, July 19 (YPA) – A young man in Taiz province, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition factions, has committed suicide lately as a result of despair caused by to the ongoing economic collapse.
Sources close to a man named Osama Tawfiq Nasher reported that he committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree in the Khayami area of Al-Ma’afer district, after reaching a dead end in terms of being able to afford living requirements.
The sources affirmed that the worsening living conditions in the areas under the control of the coalition factions prompted the young to commit suicide, indicating that the situation of people has reached a catastrophic stage due to the high prices and the collapse of local currency.
The pro-coalition government has destroyed the Yemeni economy by printing large amounts of money without cash cover since the end of 2016, causing rapid inflation.
The Sana’a government rejected the new printed currency, considering it an illegal currency and refusing to circulate it in areas under its control. As a result, area under control of the National Salvation Government have a far more stable economy and currency of far higher value.
