Electricity Corporation of Aden warns of potential electricity system collapse

ADEN, July 18 (YPA) – The General Electricity Corporation of Aden warned the “Presidential Council” and “the government” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition on Tuesday of a complete collapse of the electricity system in the city in the coming days.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the corporation demanded urgent intervention to secure fuel for stations, as diesel fuel is running out and service continuity is threatened, noting that the stations have already reduced generation to a minimum level, and there are no other payments to ensure the continuity of service.

The statement stated that the main “PetroMasila” station is still operating at 60% of the capacity of the current turbine due to the lack of crude oil fuel in an amount that allows it to operate at its maximum capacity.

The corporation added that the remaining fuel is almost enough to operate the power plants for specific hours, which will lead to complete darkness in the city in the event of their cessation of service.
