ADEN, July 14 (YPA) – Armed elements of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) opened fire on Thursday evening to disperse angry demonstrations in downtown of Yemen’s southern port city of Aden.
According to local sources, STC elements fired bullets into the air to disperse angry protester, who blocked the road leading to the Attawahi district to denounce the economic collapse and the deterioration of electricity services in the city.
The sources indicated that the demonstrators blocked a number of streets with stones and set fire to tires in the streets.
They also chanted slogans demanding the expulsion of the Saudi-led coalition and the STC factions from Aden and the rest of the southern governorates.
The STC deployed dozens of coalition military vehicles in various streets of Aden in anticipation of storming the headquarters of service institutions, amid calls for demonstrations near Al-Ma’ashiq Palace in the Crater district and the coalition headquarters in Al-Buraiqeh district in coming two days.
