Tehran announces transfer of 11 Iranian prisoners from Kuwait

TEHRAN, July 13 (YPA) – Iranian authorities have transferred 11 prisoners from Kuwait to Tehran, Iran’s Mehr news agency said on Wednesday.

The agency stated that the transfer came after follow-up from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice and Tehran’s embassy in the Gulf state.

It indicated that this step comes in the context of strengthening judicial cooperation between the two countries and an affirmation of commitment to facilitating amnesty procedures and the release of Iranian prisoners and their transfer to their countries.

The joint consular committee between Kuwait and Iran was held last October in Kuwait and discussed various issues related to consular matters and issues of concern to the nationals of the two countries.

At the time, the committee discussed the issues and problems of the Iranian community with Kuwaiti officials.
