ADEN, June 28 (YPA) – A leader of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has applied for asylum in the Netherlands.
Journalist Fares al-Hemyari said that the leader in the STC, Brigadier General Thabet Hussein, applied for asylum in the refugee reception camp in the Netherlands, along with others of the STC members, after their participation in the Yemen International Forum.
Hussein participated in a press conference he held with members of the STC’s official delegation on the sidelines of the forum in The Hague, speaking as a military expert about the success of the STC’s military operations and accusing former officials of supporting extremist organizations in Abyan and other provinces, according to al-Hemyari.
Brigadier General Hussein also criticized after the forum (the quality of the participants), Saying: “What is wrong with this forum is that the large number of participants has turned the forum into a public event more than scientific and research. If the invitation is limited to decision-makers from researchers and effective political forces, including women and youth, who meet the specifications and conditions of strategic researchers.”
