Yemen beat Lebanon 2-1 in West Asian U23 Championship

SANAA, June 17 (YPA) – Yemen’s Olympic football team defeated the Lebanese football team in Group C of the West Asian U23 Championship, scoring two goals.

The first half ended in a goalless draw (0-0).

After the break, Lebanon was the first to score, thanks to Mohamad Omar Sadek (1-0, 53rd minute). However, the joy was short-lived: two minutes later (55th), Yemen equalized with the help of Gassem al-Sharifi (1-1).

Ten minutes later (65th), the Yemenis added to their tally with a goal from Hamzah Mahrous (2-1). Thereafter, the Lebanese team was unable to recover, and the match ended in a crushing defeat

The qualifiers for Group C will be held in Iraq.
