Sanaa government, UN officials discuss results of implementing child protection action plan

SANAA, June 13 (YPA) – The Deputy Prime Minister of the Sanaa Government for Defense and Security Affairs, Lieutenant General Jalal Al-Rowishan, met on Tuesday with the co-chairs of the United Nations Country Task Force, the Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, William David Gressly, and the UNICEF Resident Representative, Peter Hawkins.

In the meeting, they discussed the progress made in implementing the child protection action plan signed between the National Salvation Government and the United Nations in April 2022.

Al-Rowishan praised the efforts of the Humanitarian Coordinator to solve the problem of the “Safer” ship and his relentless endeavor to introduce mine detection and protection equipment.

The two UN officials expressed their appreciation for the progress achieved by the National Technical Committee in implementing the child protection action plan, expressing the United Nations’ permanent readiness to support the implementation of all related activities.

They also voiced their understanding of the urgent humanitarian issues, especially the dangers posed by mines and explosive remnants of war to which children and women are exposed daily.
