SOCOTRA, June 10 (YPA) – The Yemeni island of Socotra suffered on Saturday the significant material damage as a result of the continued Tropical Storm Biparjoy.

Sources familiar with the matter confirmed that the floods as a result of continuous wave of rain in the Socotra archipelago has caused material damage to the citizens’ property, represented by the sinking of homes and the destruction of foodstuffs for most families, in addition, damage to agricultural land, fishing boats and marine equipment, and the main roads.

Socotra’s sons called on local and international humanitarian organizations to extend the help and direct intervention to provide relief to the families affected by the torrential rains in the south of the archipelago.

They accused the authorities in Socotra of failing to perform their duties regarding the disaster, which did not bother to take any measures to confront the effects of the storm Biparjoy on the archipelago.
