SOCOTRA, June 04 (YPA) -An Emirati company has taken control over a fish landing center in the occupied Yemeni archipelago of Socotra.
Media sources confirmed that the governor of Socotra, “Raafat Al-Thaqali”, affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), handed over the fish landing center which contains various markets for fish and meat, to the Emirati Prime company for free.
The sources pointed out that al-Thaqali handed over the center to the company for the purpose of investment, but without benefits accruing to the development of the island.
Moreover, the sources pointed out that he handed over all sectors of the Yemeni state in Socotra, including electricity, oil, gas and tourism, to Emirati companies, including the Prime company, since his appointment as governor of the island.
The acquisition of service sectors by UAE companies in Socotra has caused prices to rise and exacerbated the suffering of citizens.
This comes after Prime acquired the Wali factory and refused to hand over the factory’s rent during the last period, only to return it destroyed after looting the factory’s equipment.
