Islah militants get allied with al-Qaeda in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, May 31 (YPA) – A political adviser loyal to UAE-backed Tariq Saleh, the nephew of the former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, revealed alliances between Islah and al-Qaeda elements in the districts of Wadi Hadramout in eastern Yemen.

Khaled Al-Shamiri, a head of the UAE-funded Center for Political Studies, who works as a political advisor to Tariq Saleh, confirmed that the camps of the Islah-run First Military Region in Wadi Hadramout received hundreds of al-Qaeda members coming from the areas under the Islah Party in Marib during the past days.

Al-Shamiri said on Twitter that Abdullah Al-Alimi, the leader of the Islah party, pushed dozens of terrorist elements from Shabwa and Abyan, equipped with various weapons, towards the districts of Wadi and the Desert of Hadramout.

He suggested that the terrorist elements used drones after they obtained a large shipment last year in the Badarat area, west of the Al-Wadiah border crossing.
