Erdogan declares victory in Turkey’s run-off election

ISTANBUL, May 28 (YPA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Sunday evening his victory in the run-off for the Turkish presidential elections in front of a crowd of his supporters in Istanbul.

In his speech to his supporters, the Turkish president thanked the Turkish people, noting that “the entire Turkish people are the winners in these elections.”

“We will be ruling the country for the coming five years,” the incumbent Turkish president told his cheering supporters.

Erdogan stressed that his victory in the elections was a consolidation of democracy in his country.

Supporters of President Erdogan took to the streets to celebrate his election victory, as they began to flock to the presidential palaces in Istanbul and Ankara.
