Yemeni riyal continues to fall against foreign currencies in southern provinces

SANAA, May 21 (YPA) – The Yemeni riyal continued on Monday to decline against foreign currencies in financial transactions in the provinces controlled by the Saudi-led coalition.

The US dollar exchange rate in the southern province of Aden and the other southern and eastern provinces reached 1,311 riyals, while the Saudi riyal exchange rate reached 345 riyals.

The money changers in Aden attributed the collapse of the national currency to political reasons, corruption, and looting of the state’s budgets and revenues by the pro-coalition government’s corrupt officials.

In Sanaa, the Yemeni riyal remained stable at 533 riyals per dollar and 142 riyals per Saudi riyal as a consequence of a series of steps implemented by the Sanaa government last year to ensure currency stability.
