The Washington Post: Pentagon leaked documents prove that Zelensky planned to target Russian territory
WORLD, May 14 (YPA) -Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky has planned “behind closed doors” to launch a long- long-range missiles to hit targets inside Russia’s territory and bombing a pipeline that transfers Russian oil to Hungary, a NATO member, The Washington Post reported.
Documents obtained by The Washington Post, which also include correspondence exchanged by the Ukrainian leader with the Ukrainian military leadership, indicate that Zelensky has not abandoned the idea of striking targets within the borders of the Russian Federation, using long-range missiles, despite Kiev’s assurances that it will not use weapons obtained from the West to target Russian territory.
In a meeting in mid-February with Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Svrydenko, Zelensky suggested Ukraine “blow up” the Soviet-built Druzhba pipeline that provides oil to Hungary.
“Zelenskyy highlighted that … Ukraine should just blow up the pipeline and destroy likely Hungarian [Prime Minister] Viktor Orban’s industry, which is based heavily on Russian oil,” the document says.
The government of the Russian Federation said earlier that Hungary received 4.9 million tons in 2020 of crude oil arriving through the southern branch of the pipeline.
Oil flows from there to Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The northern branch of the Druzhba line, which reaches Germany and Poland, is stopped and is not currently used by these countries.
