Russia declares its control over four regions in Bakhmut

MOSCOW, May 01 (YPA) – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced, on Sunday, that its forces had taken control of four areas in the western Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.

The Russian Information Agency quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying, “Russian forces have taken control of four areas in the western Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.”

Russian forces have been fighting for months to control the city in eastern Ukraine, which was once inhabited by 70,000 people.

Kiev pledged to defend Bakhmut, which Russia considers a springboard to control other cities.
