MAHRA, April 29 (YPA) – The Coast Guard forces in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition exposed on Saturday the activities of the British Navy, which they described as “suspicious” on the eastern coast of Yemen.
This comes after deaths and injuries among its members by British naval fire.
The Coast Guard force, which is supervised by the US forces, said in a statement that a British force was sailing near the strategic Ras Fartak area of Mahra province overlooking the Arabian Sea, “without raising any flags” when an attempt was made to communicate with it.
The British force started shooting at boats belonging to the Yemeni factions, causing deaths and injuries among them, the statement added.
The Coast Guard indicated that after the incident, the British Navy issued a “misleading” statement about what happened.
The coast guard force confirmed that its personnel did not fire at the British force, but rather approached it to find out the reason for their refusal to answer the call.
This is the first time that the coasts of Mahra have witnessed an incident of this kind since the British decision to deploy a military force in the strategic province as part of a multinational force based at Al-Ghaydah airport.
