Parliament blesses success of Ramadan prisoners swap deal

SANAA, April 19 (YPA) – The Parliament congratulated the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and all employees of the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the People’s Committees on the success of the Ramadan prisoner exchange deal.

In a statement issued today, the Parliament considered the success of the prisoner swap deal as one of the fruits of steadfastness in the face of the aggression coalition for more than eight years.

The parliament praised the keenness of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council to give priority to the public interest and the responsible engagement with the Omani mediation efforts.

In its statement, the parliament also congratulated all prisoners and detainees and their families on their safe return after years of separation, suffering and diaspora.

The statement stressed the importance of releasing the rest of the prisoners and detainees on the principle of “all for all” and completing the remaining steps of the humanitarian file.

The parliament expressed hope that this initiative would be a starting point for dialogue that leads to a comprehensive and just peace that restores security, peace, stability and national sovereignty to Yemen.

The statement considered the prisoner exchange deal, which was sponsored by the United Nations and supervised by the International Committee of the Red Cross, as an advanced step in the path of negotiation and confidence-building in order to push forward the comprehensive and just peace process for Yemen and the region.
