Tunisian security forces besiege HQ of Ennahda Movement

WORLD, April 18 (YPA) – Tunisian security forces besieged the headquarters of the Ennahda movement at dawn on Tuesday, while the headquarters was reportedly placed pending investigations for three days.

Earlier, Tunisian security forces arrested the movement’s president, Rached Ghannouchi, after raiding and searching his home, according to his special adviser Riad Shuaibi and several of the movement’s leaders.

According to “mosaiquefm’ Radio , the Public Prosecution at the Anti-Terrorism Judicial Pole authorized agents of the anti-terrorism unit in Bouchoucha to arrest Ghannouchi.

The decision to suspend Ghannouchi for investigation came over the leak of a video clip of an opposition meeting in which he said that “Tunisia without Ennahda, without political Islam, without the left, or any other component, is a project for civil war.”

For its part, Ennahda confirmed that its president is being held in an unknown location. It also said that he was arrested along with some of his companions, calling for his immediate release, because “there is a clear targeting of his health”.
