WORLD, April 15 (YPA) – China rejected the visit of US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Beijing, fearing that the FBI would publish the results of the investigation into the Chinese balloon fall, The Financial Times reported.
According to the newspaper, Beijing told Washington that it was not ready to set a new date for the visit, which Blinken canceled in February, before the administration’s plans for the results of the investigation became clear.
The newspaper, citing sources familiar with the matter, noted that Chinese officials feared that the White House would release FBI reports, along with physical evidence during Blinken’s visit to China.
Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang raised the issue during his meeting with the Americans at the China Development Forum in Beijing in March.
