7.2 magnitude earthquake hits New Papua Guinea

SANAA, April 02 (YPA) – An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter Scale struck the country of New Papua Guinea on Sunday.

According to the website (Russia today) according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake was recorded at 18.04 UTC, and the epicenter is located 38 kilometers from the city of Ambonte, and at a depth of 73 kilometers.

It was initially reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.4 degrees, but later the center clarified the data and there were no reports of injuries or damage, and there was no threat of a tsunami.
