China comments on Russia’s decision to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus

WORLD, March 27 (YPA) – China’s Foreign Ministry said all parties should focus on finding a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis through diplomatic means, work together to defuse the conflict and avoid unleashing a nuclear war.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning explained to the Russian agency “Novosti” her country’s position on Russia’s decision to deploy tactical weapons in Belarus.

“The leaders of the countries that possess nuclear weapons issued a joint statement on February 5, 2022, stating that it is impossible to launch or win a nuclear war, and the statement stressed the need to avoid the outbreak of nuclear war between the countries that possess these weapons, and to reduce strategic risks, ” Mao Ning said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday that Moscow and Minsk had agreed to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, saying the move was in response to Britain’s announcement it would supply depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine.

He added that the deployment of a tactical nuclear weapons storage facility will be completed on the first of July.
