5.5 magnitude earthquake hits near Yemen’s Socotra Island
SOCOTRA, Feb. 28 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred on Monday afternoon at a depth of 10 kilometers in the Carlsberg Ridge in the Indian Ocean, southeast of the Yemeni island of Socotra.
It is noteworthy that the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea are considered among the areas of activity of the Arabian plate, with diverging tectonic plates between the African plate and the Indo-Australian plate.
