Russian forces thwart sabotage in southern country

WORLD, Feb. 09 (YPA) – Russia’s National Antiterrorism Committee Committee announced that members of the Federal Security Service (FSB) managed to eliminate a group of militants who were planning to carry out a terrorist act in the Stavropol region of southern Russia.

The committee said in a statement that the Federal Security Service of the Stavropol Territory received information on Wednesday about “the presence of militants in the village of Petrovsky … They were planning to carry out a terrorist act at a train station.”

According to the statement, security personnel besieged these gunmen in a house and demanded that they lay down their arms and surrender. however, the gunmen fired at security personnel and they were “neutralized” in the exchange of fire.

There were no casualties among security personnel and the local civilian population, as residents were evacuated from nearby buildings.
