WORLD, Feb. 06 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter has struck the Eastern Mediterranean region, Reuters reported.
In Syria, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that a severe earthquake was felt by residents of Damascus, Latakia and other parts of the country.
SANA, quoting the National Seismological Center, the quake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and had an epicenter near the town of Gaziantep.
The source of the earthquake was 10 km below the surface.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the earthquake was felt in the country’s various regions, including Ankara and Antalya. Additionally, media outlet reported that the quake was felt in some regions of Iraq and Lebanon.
