Saudi Arabia decides to limit STC militias militarily: Official

ADEN, Jan. 31 (YPA) – Riyadh has decided to curb the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council and get rid of its armed militias in the southern and eastern Yemeni provinces.

Saleh al-Jabwani, a former Yemeni Minister of Transport in the coalition-backed government, said on Twitter on Tuesday: “It seems that Saudi Arabia decided to limit the STC militarily, and expelled it from some of the provinces it controlled months ago, after the official announcement of the formation of the so-called Shield Forces of Homeland, in an attempt to restore the military balance and share influence with the Emirates in southern Yemen.”

Al-Jabwani added, “This component will return to its rural size after being gained strength abroad to conquer the people of the south and east.”
