Health Minister, Swedish envoy inspect renal dialysis center at Thawra Hospital

SANAA, June 29 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population, Taha Al-Mutawakil, on Friday met with the envoy of the Swedish government to Yemen and Libya, Peter Simbi , who is currently visiting our country in Thawra General Hospital in Sanaa.
In the meeting, Al-Mutawakel briefed the Swedish envoy on the health and humanitarian situation in light of the continuation of Saudi-led coalition aggression war and the all-out blockade imposed on Yemen for more than three years.
The Minister of Health and the Swedish government envoy inspected the renal dialysis center at Thawra Hospital.
Al-Mutawakel explained that the health status of dialysis patients is worsening one day after another and more than 8,000 patients need to be dialysis.
Al-Mutawakel said that the ministry’s reports indicate that about 1200 patients with renal failure have died because of this tragedy, noting that most of the centers of dialysis has stopped work due to the lack of solutions, medicines and supplies for dialysis.

Al-Mutawakil called on the Swedish envoy to convey the suffering of the Yemenis, expressing the hope that the Swedish government will pressure on the international community and the United Nations to stop the aggression war and lift the siege imposed on Yemen.
In his turn, the Swedish envoy expressed his regret over the deteriorating situation in the health sector in Yemen.
Simbi confirmed that his visit to Yemen aims to convey a true and realistic picture of the health and humanitarian conditions that Yemen reached, especially under circumstances of war.
