8 people died, 15 injured after car falls down from high mountain in Dhamar

DHAMAE+R, Jan. 22 (YPA) – Twenty-three people, mostly children, were killed and wounded on Saturday in Mikhlaf Jaar of Wusab Al Ali District, west of Dhamar province, after a car carrying them fell from a high mountain.

According to local sources in the directorate, 8 people died, including females, and 15 others were seriously injured, most of them are students of Al-Najd School in Al-Sharqi area, after the car falling down from the mountain.

The car was carrying 34 students whom the driver used to transport to school while he was on his way to work to relieve the burden of travel  for them, the sources said.

The sources indicated that the ruggedness of the road has doubled the suffering of citizens and its lack of maintenance as a result of negligence by the concerned authorities in various services, including roads and health.

The car crash caused panic among the people of the area who rushed in search of their children, and the injured were taken for treatment in Dhamar and Ibb hospitals.
