Sanaa launches first cruise in waters of Red Sea

HODEIDA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The General Authority for Fisheries and the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee on Friday inaugurated the first cruise for marine research and community control boats in the Red Sea waters.

During the inauguration, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Fisheries in the Sanaa government, Abdulhameed al-Faqih, and member of the Agricultural Committee, Abdulwahid al-Sharqi, praised the efforts made in activating the role of community control and marine rescue for its importance in supporting fishermen and preserving marine wealth.

Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Fisheries, Muhammad Al-Omeisi, explained that the trip included two boats that were rehabilitated and equipped with advanced engines and other requirements necessary for the success of the work of the volunteers to carry out daily patrols at sea within the tasks assigned to them.

He valued the efforts of young volunteers and fishermen who are qualified and experienced to make the work of community control and marine rescue successful, noting the authority’s efforts to create a real community partnership to take care of fishermen’s issues and bring about a comprehensive renaissance and sustainable development of the fish sector.
