Shabwa tribes set up military points to face UAE-funded militias

SHABWA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – Several tribal gunmen set up on Thursday military points in Shabwa province, local sources said.

The sources affirmed that the Himyar tribes created the checkpoints in Al-Nashimah area, the oil port in Rudum district in protests against the UAE-funded militia’s kidnapping of a number of tribal sheikhs.

The sources stated the process came after the kidnapping of sheikh Mohammed Saleh Al-Suleimani and Ali Sami Al-Suleimani, by the so-called the UAE-affiliated “Shabwa Defense” militia, at the entrance to the city of Ataq, the provincial capital of Shabwa, without legal justification.

The Himyar tribes in Shabwa accused the commander of the “Second Brigade” militia, Wajdi Baoum, of committing violations against the tribal sheikhs, the sources added.

The UAE militia deliberately humiliates the sheikhs of Shabwa who oppose the policy of plundering oil wealth without achieving any development for the people of the province.
