Child injured by mine explosion in Jawf

JAWF, Jan. 02 (YPA) – A little girl was injured on Monday as a result of a mine explosion left over By the Saudi-led coalition in Jawf province, northeastern Yemen.

A security source in the province reported that the landmine left by the coalition had exploded in Al-Salam area of Al-Masloub district, injuring the girl with wounds of varying degrees.

This comes less than 24 hours after a civilian and his son were injured in a similar explosion in Al-Yatama area of  Khub Washa`f district in the province.

Last Friday, a civilian was killed and two others were injured, as a result of a mine explosion in Al-Durayhimi district of Hodeida province.

It is noteworthy that the Executive Center for Mine Action destroyed in mid-December more than 9,700 warheads left over by the coalition forces in Hodeida.

The coalition’s cluster bombs and mines kill dozens of children and civilians in the contaminated districts of Hodeida, amid the inability of the National Mine Action Center due to the coalition’s detention of detection devices and not allowing them to be entered despite obtaining permits from the United Nations.
