Multiples casualties reported due to explosion near military airport in Kabul

KABUL, Jan. 01 (YPA) – Multiples casualties have reported following an explosion that was heard outside the military airport in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, on Sunday morning.

Interior Ministry spokesman Navi Thakur told a foreign media outlet that an explosion took place outside Kabul military airport, causing casualties and injuries.

According to media reports, a suicide bomber blew up himself and targeted a checkpoint in front of Kabul airport.

The explosion occurred about 80 meters from the airport road. The authorities closed the roads leading to the area and only ambulances and armored vehicles were visible there.
