SANAA, Dec. 27 (YPA) – The Immigration, Passport and Nationality Authority, in cooperation and coordination with the International Organization for Migration, has returned 136 illegal migrants from the Horn of Africa region to their countries through Sana’a International Airport.
Colonel Hussein al-Kebsi, director general of follow-up and deportation at the ministry, said that the process of returning illegal immigrants from the shelter center at the ministry in the capital Sana’a to their countries was carried out in accordance with applicable international agreements.
He pointed to the high number of illegal migrants arriving in Yemen, especially by sea and illegally, pointing out that the department is coordinating with the International Organization for migration to transport them by air to ensure their return to their countries in safe ways.
Colonel Al-kebsi said that in agreement with the International Organization for Migration, voluntary returns were announced across communities to organize deportations, where about five hundred people applied, indicating that this is the second trip to return illegal immigrants, and there is coordination to organize other trips.
He also pointed out that the presence of illegal immigrants in our country illegally may increase the level of crime, and their presence in residential areas without any identification documents poses a security risk.
