SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Iran has announced the arrest of a cell of 7 individuals linked to Britain, after they were arrested for their involvement in riots during the demonstrations taking place in the country.
This came in a statement issued by the “Thar Allah” Corps of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to the official news agency “IRNA”.
“Thanks to intelligence efforts, the movements of the Zagros network, which is directly run by elements from Britain, were revealed and established by a team of mercenaries hostile to the Islamic Revolution inside and outside the country.
The statement added the arrested were involved in provoking riots and unrest as part of a scheme to overthrow the regime.”
The statement stated there are persons, among the detainees, hold dual nationality, tried to flee the country, but were caught by the security forces in Kerman province, in the southeast of the country.
On November 21, Iranian Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, accused London and Riyadh of “hatred” against his country, referring to “media networks funded by Saudi Arabia and active with British support and funding.”
The Iranian government blamed the unrest on demonstrators aiming to destroy public property and said they were trained and armed by enemies including the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
