MAHRA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Dozens of fishermen organized on Monday a protest against the violations of foreign forces and preventing them from practicing the fishing profession in al-Mahra province in eastern Yemen.
In a statement, the fishermen called for the return of their four boats, which were confiscated by foreign forces off the port of Nashtun last week, in the city of al-Ghaydha.
The statement accused “Saudi and Emirati” foreign ships of overfishing and looting the Yemeni maritime wealth, in exchange for preventing them from fishing their only source of livelihood.
The statement called for preventing indiscriminate dredging, stopping all destructive means of marine wealth, and regulating fishing according to Yemeni laws and regulations.
