Sanaa celebrates World Arabic Language Day

SANAA, Dec. 21 (YPA) – Yemen’s capital of Sanaa celebrated on Wednesday the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on “December 18”.

At an event organized by the General Book Authority on the gallery of the House of Culture, the Presidency Adviser, Dr. Abdel Aziz, stressed the need to pay attention to the Arabic language as a response to its status as a global language and a vessel that transmits the culture and aspirations of its speakers to the peoples of the world.

For his part, the head of the General Book Authority, Abd al-Rahman Murad, in the presence of deputy minister of culture, Mohammad Haydara, noted the world’s celebration on December 18 of each year of the World Arabic Language Day, based on its consideration as one of the most important pillars of the cultural diversity of humanity.

He stated that “UNESCO” defined the celebration of Arabic this year in two axes, the first, clarifying the role of this language in enriching the cultural diversity of humanity, and the second, its role in producing human knowledge.

Murad referred to the United Nations decision on this day in the year 1973 to make Arabic among the official languages in the world.
