Military ship sinks in Gulf of Thailand

BANGKOK, Dec. 19 (YPA) – The Thai navy announced that the military deployed warships and helicopters on Monday to try to locate 33 missing marines.

This came after the sinking of an army military ship in the Gulf of Thailand, according to Al-Arabiya channel, while Thai media indicated that a large amount of water had leaked into “Sukhothai” ship, explaining that an aerial search was underway for the missing crew members.

“Bangkok Post” website reported that the warship was patrolling about 20 nautical miles from the beach in the “Pang Sapan” area of “Prachuap Khiri Khan” province.

Dornier planes and “Sea Hawk” helicopters, as well as surface ships, participated in the search for the missing ship’s crew. The operations resulted in the rescue of 78 of the ship’s crew of 106 sailors.
