Al-Qaeda denies its connection to recent Marib bombings

MARIB, Dec. 11 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) denied its connection to bombings in Wadi Obeida in the eastern Yemeni province of Marib over the past weeks.

In a statement issued by the organization said that it did not carry out any bombings in Wadi Obeida, especially since these explosions targeted what the statement described “Ahl al-Sunnah.”

The statement accused suspicious parties (referring to the Emirati militias) of being behind the bombing, which aims to cause strife “between the organization and the tribes supporting it in Wadi Obeida.”

According to observers, al-Qaeda’s denial statement once again reveals the relationship between the terrorist organization and Islah and coalition leaders in the city of Marib.

It is worth noting that the district of Wadi Obeida, the main stronghold of al-Qaeda and Islah militants in the city of Marib, had been subjected during the past month to four bomb attacks targeting military vehicles belonging to the coalition forces and Islah militants.
