Aden witnesses violent confrontations between pro-UAE factions

ADEN, Dec. 11 (YPA) – Violent clashes broke out Sunday between the pro-UAE factions in the center of Aden city, southern Yemen.

Local sources in the city confirmed that the confrontations broke out between the Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia loyal to the UAE in the vicinity of Block 13 in Al-Mimdara area, in Sheikh Othman district, in a surprising manner, without mentioning the reasons.

Light weapons, including a 12.7 mm machine gun, were used in the confrontations, which left the neighborhood residents in a state of terror, the sources added.

The sources indicated that the military vehicles were deployed in the al-Mimdara neighborhood, and prevented citizens from passing through and leaving their homes.

The city of Aden has been witnessing chaos and insecurity amid the spread of various crimes of assassinations and kidnappings, and the looting of citizens’ property, as well as the collapse of various basic services such as electricity, health and water.

The suffering of citizens in the southern provinces under the control of the Saudi-led coalition increased with the continued looting of all natural resources of the country and the deposit of their revenues in the National Bank of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the deterioration of the economic situation and the deterioration of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.
