Islah militants launch campaign of arrests in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 08 (YPA) – Several recruits of the “First Military Region” affiliated with Al-Islah Party launched on Thursday a massive campaign of arrests against citizens in the city of Seiyun in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

Local sources said that the recruits arrested about 11 citizens, including children against the background of the wave of protests taking place in the city of Seiyun and some areas of Wadi and Desert Hadramout.

This came after a wave of popular anger protests swept the city of Seiyun, represented in the closure of roads in implementation of the comprehensive civil disobedience called for by the statement of the so-called “Youth of Anger”, one of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council factions, demanding all the forces of the First Military Region to leave the city.

The sources reported that the recruits randomly fired live bullets to disperse the protesters.

The districts of the Hadramout Valley and Desert have been witnessing intense tension for days, after “Rashad Al-Alimi,” head of the “Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, issued a decision to resign “Yahya Abu Awja,” the pillars of the war in the first military region, and the Islah’s rebellion against the decision.
