Sultan of Oman issues pardon for 65 foreigners

MUSCAT, Nov. 17 (YPA) – The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, issued on Thursday a special pardon 175 inmates, including 65 foreign nationals.

The royal pardon came on the occasion of the Sultanate’s National Day, which falls on November 18 of each year, according to the Omani News Agency.

The Sultan of Oman, who took power in the country on January 11, 2020, succeeding the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, has been issuing amnesty decrees for prisoners on religious and national holidays and occasions.

The Sultanate celebrates the National Day on the 18th of November every year, and the celebration of this national day began with the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said assuming power in 1970.
