Mahweet witnesses mass wedding of 262 grooms, brides

MAHWEET, Nov. 09 (YPA) – Mahweet province witnessed on Wednesday a collective wedding for 262 grooms and brides from the people of the province, funded by the General Authority for Zakat.

At the wedding ceremony, Head of the General Authority for Zakat, Shamsan Abu Nashtan, confirmed that the authority’s projects included various fields to ensure the care of the poor and needy in their food, drink, clothing, housing, health and others.

He pointed out that the collective wedding project represents an aspect of the Authority’s interesting, whose projects varied between in-kind and cash zakat, helping debtors and displaced persons, providing medical aid, and contributing to reconstruction, weddings and economic empowerment projects.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the local council in the province, Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Zaykam, praised the third mass wedding and the collective wedding initiatives, noting their importance in facilitating the marriage of young people, helping the insolvent, and reducing the burdens and costs of weddings.
