In the Senate, which is re-elected by a third, the Republicans still have 39 seats against 38 for the Democrats. To get a majority, the opposition needs 51 seats, the ruling party – 50, given that Vice President Kamala Harris votes on her side in stalemate situations.

In the Senate, among other things, according to the forecast of a number of leading media, Republican Rand Paul, who previously blocked the adoption of a bill on the allocation of $40 billion in aid to Ukraine and spoke out against NATO expansion into the post-Soviet space, is going to the Senate.

Congressional elections are held in the United States on Tuesday. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate are at stake.
