Republicans advance in elections to both houses of the US Congress

WORLD, Republicans are ahead of Democrats in the midterm elections to the House of Representatives with a fragile lead in the Senate elections, CNN forecasts showed.

According to the CNN, candidates from the Republican opposition have already received 105 seats in the House of Representatives against 57 from the Democrats – the party of President Joe Biden. To control the chamber of one of the parties, it is necessary to have 218 seats out of 435.

Among those who managed to be re-elected to the House of Representatives, according to the New York Times forecast, is Republican Marjorie Taylor Green.

She is the author of resolutions to impeach the current US President Joe Biden and is close to the former head of the White House, Donald Trump.

In the Senate, which is re-elected by a third, the Republicans still have 39 seats against 38 for the Democrats. To get a majority, the opposition needs 51 seats, the ruling party – 50, given that Vice President Kamala Harris votes on her side in stalemate situations.

In the Senate, among other things, according to the forecast of a number of leading media, Republican Rand Paul, who previously blocked the adoption of a bill on the allocation of $40 billion in aid to Ukraine and spoke out against NATO expansion into the post-Soviet space, is going to the Senate.

Congressional elections are held in the United States on Tuesday. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate are at stake. Democrats now have majorities in both houses. Major polls are predicting success for Republicans, who have been in the minority in both houses for the past two years.
