Political researcher: What is happening on Mayoun Island is plan to control Bab al-Mandab

SANAA, Nov. 07 (YPA) – The researcher in the political and military history of Yemen, Abdullah bin Amer, has revealed what is happening on the Yemeni island of Mayoun, located in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

“What is happening in Mayoun is part of the implementation of understandings to distribute supervision and management tasks on the most important Yemeni islands, specifically the islands of Hunish, Zuqar, Mayoun and Socotra,” bin Amer said.

Bin Amer wrote on his Twitter account, on Sunday, that the most important point in these understandings is related to the settlement of the Mayoun management and making it an air base to control Bab al-Mandab with other steps related to the population and facilities, without clarifying the nature of those understandings or the countries behind them.

The researcher pointed out that a meeting was held in an African country neighboring Yemen on July 6, 2020, “without mentioning the name of the country,” regarding the settlement of the Mayoun Island control.

He considered that the media campaigns that exposed the scheme were at the forefront of postponing the implementation and rejecting the actions of the aggressors on the Yemeni islands, Socotra, Mayoun, Hunish and Zuqar.

Bin Amer stated that the last meeting held in Jordan, the other party failed to persuade foreign companies to resume exporting gas due to the conditions related to the security aspect, noting that the companies message was clear: “You first agree with Sanaa, and we are ready to work.”

He considered that the solution to this problem lies in solving the issue of salaries and understanding on the rights of Yemenis in their sovereign wealth.
