Sanaa calls UN to quickly release gas vessel held by coalition

SANAA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The Yemeni Gas Company (YGC) on Saturday called on the United Nations to pressure the Saudi-led coalition to stop the detention of domestic gas vessels.

YGC indicated in a statement that the coalition has been holding the “Lady Sarah” gas vessel since October 18, which carries a quantity of 9,230 metric tons of imported gas, calling on the United Nations to quickly release the held vessel.

The statement affirmed that the coalition practices piracy on gas and oil derivatives ships despite being subject to inspection and obtaining UN entry permits, considering that a crime that contradicts international and humanitarian norms, charters and laws.

In its statement, YGC called for not using ships of oil and gas derivatives as a means of collective punishment against the Yemeni people.
